Chuggington Wooden Railway engines and vehicles feature real-wood construction and magnetic couplings.
A note about compatibility with other wooden train systems . . . . The manufacturer states that Chuggington wooden vehicles are compatible with other wooden train systems. In general this is true as wooden Chuggington vehicles ARE compatible with the wooden train track of other train systems. However, there are some issues with coupling and fitting under bridges/elevated track.
Chuggington vehicles are a bit chunkier/bulkier than other train system vehicles so magnetic couplings don't match up very well. No big deal if you are only mixing 2 or 3 vehicles together, but it will become a big deal if you try to mix a huge long train together. The added size of Chuggington vehicles will also prevent them from fitting under the bridges and elevated track from most other train systems. So yes, Chuggington will work with other systems, you just need to be aware of the pitfalls!
