Parent and Child Bonding
Through Reading

children bonding with parents

Parent and child bonding is essential to each and every child out there, and reading with your child is a simple way to establish a strong and nurturing parent and child bond.  Yes, reading stories provides a simple and SUREFIRE way to bond and really connect with your child.

I can't imagine a conscientious parent out there who doesn't want to snuggle with their little ones and really bond with them.  And in these uncertain times in our world, our children need more than ever to know that we love them and care enough to take time out from our hectic lives and busy schedules and give THEM our undivided attention.

And . . . once we give them our undivided attention, we get their undivided attention in return.   Reading kids stories together is a simple way to accomplish quality communication with children and enjoy the child parent bond.

With children, it's not quantity time, it's quality time. father reading to daughter It's not what we say, it's what we do. The mother who is home with her kids, but spends hours on the phone, computer, or doing housework might be physically present, but she isn't providing the nurturing time her kids need.  The same goes for the father who says, "I love you," but is too busy to take the time to read a bedtime story.  His words might say, "I love you," but his actions are yelling, "YOU AREN'T IMPORTANT ENOUGH!"  We, as parents, have to remember to view our actions through a child's eyes.

The old adage, "actions speak louder than words," is ever so true where children are concerned. Reading gives us the opportunity as parents to forge a secure and loving parent and child bonding with our children.    Parent and child bonding is essential for a developing child . . . and . . . a secure child who is confident in their parents' love will be confident in themselves and grow up into a successful, independent, productive member of our society.  And as parents, aside from happiness, isn't that our single biggest wish for our children?

"Other things may change us, but we start and end with family."
