About This Resource

My name is Amy Bouma and I manage and operate the Little Ones Reading Resource as well as its associated online store. Our store carries children's books, Thomas the Tank engine products, Bob the Builder toys, and ERTL diecast tractors & trailers.

I am very proud to say that our bookshop is NOT an affiliate of any big name out there. Every book in our store has been read and lovingly hand-picked for inclusion. We have added toys and expanded our bookshop to a full-online store. Parents cannot underestimate the value of pretend play which is a vital element to healthy development. The Thomas Wooden Railway system gives children a fantastic avenue for quality pretend play.

The Little Ones Reading Resource site was born out of my personal love of reading and my passion for my kids. I have 3 precious sons -- Carl (b.2004), Jack (b.2002), and Eric (b.2000).

I spend a lot of time with my boys as I am a stay at home mom. I see the joy that reading books brings to them and I hope to encourage others, whoever you may be, to read to your kids as part of a daily routine. I think that developmentally reading is very important as well as the bonding and spending quality time with your little ones. Although my kids are young, I understand how quickly time passes and before you know it they are grown and gone. I think we should cherish these times and a great way to do that is to read a book together.

I am in no way, shape, or form declaring myself as a reading "expert." I live everyday in the trenches with my boys and that has provided me some solid first-hand knowledge and experience. I have researched reading and its related matters as a personal hobby. And I have some formal educational training as well through the completion of a master's degree in math education.

This site is lovingly dedicated to my husband, Mark, whose unwavering support made this personal endeavor possible; my mother, Ellie, who faithfully read to me as a child and instilled my love of books; and my kids, Eric, Jack & Carl, for without them life wouldn't be worth living.
